The Testimony of Jesus is the Spirit of Prophecy

 When we come to truth, it is the Holy Spirit who guides us in our search. We can trust God's Holy Spirit to open Scripture to us to show us the things that are and the things to come. He is the only One who can do this. 

 Jesus' life was the fulfillment of many Biblical prophecies, but prophecy is more than just historical proof of a Messiah. It is a daily revealing of Jesus to us by the Holy Spirit-whose function it is to glorify God and to reveal Jesus to us. Jesus said that when the promised Comforter, the Holy Spirit, would come to the Church, He would testify of Jesus. 

 We are to abide in Christ Jesus after we have come to truth. Abiding prepares us to be used by the Holy Spirit to effectively testify of our Savior. Then, we must let the Holy Spirit educate and lead us, so that through our love and obedience, Christ Jesus will be formed in us. 

 When the testimony of Jesus Christ truly lives in us, then we are prepared to preach Him to the whole world with signs following.

The Force Of Obedience

Abraham left the comfort and security of Ur to obey the call of God. Without hesitation, he "obeyed and went." He is known for this immediate step of obedience. Abraham's spiritual experience was marked by four difficult steps of obedience that showed the strength of his trust in God: He left his country and family (Genesis 12:1). He broke up with his nephew Lot, offering Lot his choice of land (Genesis 13:1-18). He changed his focus from Ishmael to Isaac for the center of God's promise (Genesis 17:17-18). He was willing to offer up Isaac, his only son (Genesis 22:1-19).
